Ok I am committing myself, at least trying to, to using my mac instead of relying on windows too much so I force myself to learn it.Everything seems so difficult with the mac!! I am trying to create html, css, javascript, files on the mac and it seems so cumbersome. I downloaded html code I had up on a previous website and saved it as a txt file now I want to change it to a html extension. How can I do that? On windows all I do is right click and rename, but alas on mac I am lost can't do that.

Yes, you can. Simply click on the name. Once highlighted, make your edits to the file name. You may be prompted with some sort of "are you sure" message. Click OK.Another option is to control-click on the file and select "get info." You can change the file name here as well.

Changing a file name on a Mac is even easier than it is under WIndows.Option 1: Click twice on the filename (not a double click, just two slower clicks) and an edit field will appear around it. Change the filename to what you want and hit enter/return. Option 2: Highlight the file and hit Cmd-i (thats command/apple key left of the space bar). Change the filename and other file characteristics in the pop up box.Click on the Red button to close.I find that the problems windows users have using the Mac is mostly because windows forces users to think of the most roundabout way of doing things to achieve any given task. The Mac is designed to allow you to play around with its interface in order to learn. What works in one way in one part of the Mac will work the same way across the aboard, even in different programs. When you get stalled using a Mac try thinking of the simplest way of doing whatever it is you are trying to do, then try it. This may not necessarily be what you are used to doing under windows mind. 99% percent of the time it will just work. Most things you do on a Mac include dragging, clicking and dropping with the Mouse. Keep that in mind.
